Blood Bank of the Redwoods collects 75 percent of the community's blood supply from outside the blood center. That means we need to go out into the community everyday to collect blood, which is a critical element to many lifesaving procedures. Today, we are looking more than ever to our neighbors for help with recruiting blood donors.
There is a constant need for blood and community participation is essential to meeting that need. We are always looking for individuals and businesses to host blood drives. Our team of Blood Drive Coordinators are ready to help and guide you through the process of recruiting donors. Our staff has extensive experience working with businesses, community groups and schools around Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino counties.
Blood drives can be held at any location in your area. There are several options and we welcome the opportunity to work with you to find the most convenient way for you to participate.
We Offer a Variety of Blood Donation Events:
- Employer supported blood drives – employer supports all of its willing and able staff to donate blood on company time
Example: Agilent, Exchange Bank blood drives
- In-Honor-Of blood drive – drive is hosted in someone’s name to honor them
Example: Shannon Boez leukemia patient blood drive
- Replenishment blood drive – benefits one special patient for a specific surgery; or replenishes the blood used in emergency for that special patient
Example: Miracle Man event
- Family and friends challenge drive – rallying your closest members to help you with a scheduled medical procedure, without placing an extra strain on the community’s blood supply, or rallying to support our local blood supply and demand
Example: High School Foundation, Bucket Brigade blood drives
- Donor match drive – screening test and prescreened donor drive to match specific blood components to a specific patient, in most cases a relative
Example: many local family members’ testing
- Retail location drive – busy grocery store shopping center, strip mall and plaza hosted local blood drives
Example: Plaza North Shopping Center, Longs Drugs store blood drives
- Blood bus – self-contained blood donor bus travels on a daily basis to many pre-selected easy-access public locations
Example: look for our blood coach at many on-the-road locations
- Annual blood drive events – special blood drive events throughout the year at the blood center and in the community
Example: World Blood Donor Day, Bloodstock, Margaritaville blood drive
